Paul Whenman is a Consulting Partner in FB Rice’s Sydney chemistry team. A qualified patent attorney with more than 35 years’ experience, Paul has built a distinguished career advising on chemically related patents across areas including pharmaceuticals, animal health products, surface coatings and water technologies. He is particularly known for his expertise in patent term extensions and complex patent strategy in research and development environments.
Prior to joining FB Rice, Paul worked for more than ten years as an industrial chemist, principally in the
pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. He joined FB Rice in 1984, became a partner in 1989, and served as Managing Partner from 1995 to 2009.
Paul is highly regarded for his ability to quickly identify key issues and develop practical strategies to support the protection and commercialisation of innovation, and has also provided guidance in complex litigation matters.
Paul has been recognised as an IP Star for Patent Prosecution by Managing Intellectual Property for several years and was named in the IAM Strategy 300 in 2021.
