Plasseraud IP Avocats is pleased to announce the appointment of François Jonquères, a widely recognized patent litigation attorney, as Partner. Following the merger between Plasseraud Avocats and Cande-Blanchard-Ducamp in January 2025, this appointment marks a new chapter of growth and demonstrates the firm’s ambition to accelerate and expand its IP litigation offering, both in France and internationally.
A strategic reinforcement for greater impact in patent litigation
A Doctor of Pharmacy and a member of the Paris Bar since 2009, François Jonquères has been advising major players on high-stakes cases for over 20 years, particularly in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, as well as in electronics, mobile communications, and emerging technologies.
After beginning his career in the pharmaceutical industry, he joined Marina Cousté, with whom he worked for 24 years, serving as a patent partner at leading international law firms, including Howrey, Reed Smith, and Simmons & Simmons, where he developed a highly regarded practice in complex litigation and innovation defense strategies.
Passionate about literature, François is also a writer and Secretary General of the Prix littéraire des Hussards.
Client-focused growth, including for the UPC
François Jonquères’ arrival aligns with Plasseraud IP Avocats’ strategy to strengthen core expertise and enhance client support, particularly before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), which is reshaping patent litigation in Europe.
With six partners, the firm reaffirms its position as a leading player in IP litigation, with a results-driven approach focused on risk management and value creation for client innovations.
An integrated approach: lawyers and patent attorneys working together on high-stakes cases
Plasseraud IP Avocats collaborates closely with Plasseraud IP to provide clients with a fully integrated approach to IP matters. This teamwork ensures alignment between portfolio management and litigation strategies, delivering more effective protection of innovations in France and internationally.
François Jonquères states: “I am delighted to join Plasseraud IP Avocats, a firm renowned for its expertise and strategic vision in patent litigation. The emergence of the Unified Patent Court marks a new era for intellectual property in Europe. I am also joining a team of 80 UPC representatives, reflecting Plasseraud IP Group’s international growth, notably marked by the recent opening of an office in Amsterdam. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the practice and supporting our clients in
defending their most critical innovations.”
Gilles Ringeisen, Founding Partner of Plasseraud IP Avocats, adds: “We have known François for many years and are thrilled to welcome him as we continue to develop our patent litigation practice in Europe. His deep knowledge of the healthcare industry and mastery of highly technical matters are decisive assets to protect our clients’ innovations in a changing European IP landscape."
