Paula Clancy recently joined her former firm Gowling WLG after practicing for over a decade at her firm, Clancy PC. Clancy specialises in trade mark work and will operate out of the firm’s Ottawa office.

 

Aird & Berlis adds IP partner in Toronto

Aird & Berlis recently announced the hiring of Amy Grenon in the firm’s Toronto office. Grenon, who joined the firm from Norton Rose Fulbright, deals with patent and trade mark litigation.

 

Arent Fox and Schiff Hardin announce merger

US firms Arent Fox and Schiff Hardin recently announced the firms will combine, resulting in a practice with more than 600 attorneys. Effective March 2022, the merged firms will operate as ArentFox Schiff. The firms are ranked in the District of Columbia, Illinois, and New York.

 

Fenwick & West makes key hires in New York and California

West Coast-based Fenwick & West made gains in the patent and transactions areas with the recent hiring of Carl Morales and Rufus Pichler. Morales, based in New York, focuses on patent strategy, while San Francisco’s Pichler deals with tech transactions.

 

Paul Hastings hires partner to lead ITC practice

Kecia Reynolds joined Paul Hastings’ Washington DC office from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Reynolds is experienced in Section 337 proceedings at the ITC and will lead the firm’s practice in the area.

 

New York IP litigator joins Kilpatrick

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton hired Stuart Pollock, a former partner at DLA Piper. Pollock, who will be based in the New York office, handles patent work in the life sciences sector.

 

Womble Bond hires two IP lawyers in Houston

Womble Bond Dickinson welcomed two IP lawyers, Sam Campbell and Eric Stephenson, to its Houston office in Texas. They joined from their boutique firm Campbell Stephenson. 

 

Two Kansas City firms announce merger

IP boutiques Avant Law Group and Erickson Kernell recently announced they will combine as one firm. Effective January 2022, the newly combined IP firm will operate as Avek IP.

 

Wilson Sonsini hires vehicle specialist from Quinn Emanuel

Jordan Jaffe, former autonomous vehicle practice leader at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, recently joined Wilson Sonsini’s San Francisco office as a partner. Jaffe is experienced in IP litigation, with a deep focus on trade secrets.

Fabara Abogados and Bustamante & Bustamante to merge

Effective at the end of this year, Ecuadorian firms Fabara Abogados and Bustamante & Bustamante will merge to create a firm of more than 25 professionals. The combined firm will operate as Bustamante Fabara.

Inventa International has rebranded

IP firm Inventa International has rebranded as Inventa to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The firm is headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, with branch offices in Africa.

 

Plasseraud IP expands its footprint in France

Plasseraud IP has opened a new office in Strasbourg, France. The office will be headed up by trade mark attorney Ecaterina Bonin. 

 

CMS strengthens its London IP practice

CMS recently welcomed brands protection specialist Paolo Andreottola as Of Counsel in its IP practice in London. Andreottola was previously with Locke Lord. This recruitment follows the arrival of IP disputes lawyer Ben Hitchens in September. 

 

IP Star appointed to lead ClarkeModet Portugal 

Trade mark star Maria Cruz Garcia has been appointed as the CEO and business development director of ClarkeModet in Portugal. 

 

Abel & Imray opened a new office in the Netherlands 

Abel & Imray opened a new office in the Dutch city of Delft. Soft IP attorneys Ellen Streekstra-Slootmaker and Mayke van Wanroij lead the office. 

 

Aaron Wood joins Brandsmiths

Trade mark attorney Aaron Wood joined Brandsmiths from Blaser Mills Law in December 2021. The soft IP specialist was shortlisted for the Managing IP Practitioner of the Year award in 2021. 

 

Pinsent Masons strengthened its IP practice in Europe

Soft IP specialist Désirée Fields, who was previously with DLA Piper, joined as legal director in the brand management and enforcement practice in London. IP transactions lawyer Gina Bicknell and life sciences patent lawyer Gareth Morgan also joined the London office. Morgan, who was previously with CMS, brought along a team of five lawyers. Bicknell joined from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

The firm also welcomed life sciences lawyer Machteld Hiemstra in Amsterdam. Hiemstra was previously with Simmons & Simmons.

 

Finnegan to launch a new office in Germany

Finnegan hired Baker McKenzie's patent litigator Jochen Herr to lead its new Munich office, which will open in January 2022. Herr will be supported by a team of lawyers.
