Mohammad Fazil Bharucha is the Managing Partner of Bharucha & Co., one of Pakistan’s oldest and most established Intellectual Property Law firms. With over four decades of experience, he represents both domestic and international clients across a wide range of contentious and non-contentious legal matters.

He leads the firm’s practice across pharmaceuticals, agriculture, life sciences, technology, textiles, automobiles, financial services, and food and beverages. He coordinates specialist teams to deliver strategic, commercially focused legal solutions. Each solution is tailored to the client’s needs.

Mr. Bharucha’s practice includes litigation, and advisory matters. He has particular depth in intellectual property law. He is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s leading intellectual property practitioners. He advises on patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial designs, licensing, enforcement, and complex IP disputes.

He has consistently been recognized by the world’s most respected legal ranking bodies. Chambers Asia Pacific ranked him in the Intellectual Property category for Pakistan in 2025, noting that he is “professional at all times” and “very commercial in the way he deals with things.” He has been named IP Law Expert of the Year for Pakistan by Corporate INTL Global Awards for six consecutive years, from 2020 to 2025, and recognised as a WIPR Leader (2024-2025) and a Patent Star and Trademark Star by IP Stars, Managing Intellectual Property (2023-2024).

Mr. Bharucha has played an active role in shaping Intellectual Property practice internationally through his involvement with leading professional organizations. He has also served as President of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) Pakistan Group and as a Delegate for Independent Members of Pakistan and Kazakhstan at the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

He currently serves as Jurisdictional Council Member for Pakistan at the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), Executive Committee Member and Co-Chair for Asia at the Global Intellectual Property Alliance (GLIPA), and contributes to various international IP initiatives.

Within the International Trademark Association (INTA), Mr. Bharucha has served on numerous committees, including Unfair Competition, Famous and Well-Known Marks, Non-Traditional Marks, Geographical Indications, and Parallel Imports, and currently serves on the Trade Secrets Committee. He also serves as INTA’s Legal Resource from Pakistan for the International Oppositions Practice Guide and has been a regular contributor to World Bank reports in recent years.

Beyond his professional practice, Mr. Bharucha contributes to the Legal and Business community through pro bono advisory work for local and international not-for-profit organizations. He is also actively involved in promoting Intellectual Property awareness through collaborations with educational institutions, the judiciary, and industry stakeholders.
