Madeleine Kelly is Managing Partner of FB Rice and a member of the firm’s Melbourne engineering and computing team. With a background in electronics and computing, she advises clients on the protection, management and commercialisation of intellectual property across emerging technologies, with particular expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics, software and data centre infrastructure. Her clients operate across a range of technology-driven sectors, including fintech, telecommunications, digital health and medical devices, and she is recognised for helping organisations navigate the evolving intellectual property challenges associated with AI-enabled innovation.
Madeleine has extensive experience in invention harvesting, patent drafting, multi-jurisdictional prosecution, oppositions, appeals, freedom-to-operate assessments, IP portfolio management and strategic IP advisory work. Having previously practised as a European and Irish patent and designs attorney, she brings an international perspective to complex patent matters, particularly those involving computer-implemented inventions and emerging technologies.
A recognised leader in the intellectual property profession, Madeleine has been recognised by Managing Intellectual Property’s IP STARS guide, IAM Global Leaders, the IAM Strategy 300 and the IAM Patent 1000.
