Jorge Afonso has a degree in Economics from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, obtained in 1978. He is an Official Industrial Property Agent (Portugal), European Trade Mark and Design Attorney and European Patent Attorney.
He has been a partner at J. Pereira da Cruz since 1974, providing advice on various aspects of trade mark management of national and international portfolios before the Portuguese and EU IP Offices.
He is a member of multiple IP associations, including the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), Portuguese Association of Intellectual Property Consultants (ACPI), Portuguese Association of European Patent Attorneys (AMEP), Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Portugal).
