He is a Portuguese Official Industrial Property Agent and a member of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre.
João joined J Pereira da Cruz in 1996.
He has vast experience in all areas of trademark law and provides advice on IP portfolio management strategy. He also advises on domain name disputes and handles contentious proceedings before the Portuguese and European Union IP Offices.
João is a speaker at conferences and seminars in the field of IP and he is actively involved in working groups at national and international level.
He is a member of the major IP organisations, including ACPI (Portuguese Association of Intellectual Property Consultants), FICPI (International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys), APRAM (Association of Practitioners in Trademark and Design Law), ECTA (European Communities Trade Mark Association) and UNION-IP (Union of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property).

Education/Alumni: A degree in law and two postgraduate diplomas in IP law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1995 and is a Specialist Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law, a title awarded by the Bar Association.
