Claudia Varas is an associate at Villaseca Abogados with more than three decades of experience in intellectual and industrial property. Her practice encompasses patent prosecution and litigation, including invention patents, utility models and industrial designs, as well as trademark portfolio management, domain name disputes and IP enforcement She advises national and international clients on the protection, management and defence of IP portfolios, with particular experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, medical devices, chemistry, mining, electronics and technology sectors.
She holds a law degree from Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA), a Master's degree in Procedural Law from Universidad Central de Chile and a Master's degree in Legaltech from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. Her postgraduate studies include programmes in the development and protection of corporate intangible assets at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, regulatory affairs for pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and medical devices at Universidad de Chile, and technology and regulation at Universidad del Desarrollo. She also completed the Advanced Course in Law: ChatGPT and its Application to Legal Practice at Universidad de Salamanca.
Claudia is a member of the Chilean Bar Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Chilean Association of Intellectual Property (ACHIPI). She currently serves as Treasurer and a Board member of ACHIPI, the Chilean national group of AIPPI, and as ACHIPI's National Group Reporter to AIPPI.
She is a member of the Chilean Bar Association, the International Trademarks Association (INTA), and the Chilean Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (ACHIPI), where she currently serves on the Board.
