Núria has significant experience in the Life Sciences sector, with expertise in in-house patent work and post-grant proceedings. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Imperial College London and has a strong background in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry.
Her career began at the EPO in Munich, followed by a role at a renowned IP firm in the Netherlands, where she became a qualified European Patent Attorney in 2013. During her time at this Dutch IP firm, she did an in-house secondment for a large corporation in the Netherlands. In 2019, she returned to Barcelona to work at a prominent IP firm in Spain.
Núria has handled a wide range of technologies and clients within life sciences, excelling in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as providing legal opinions on validity, infringement, and freedom to operate. She has experience in inter-partes post-grant proceedings before the EPO and Spanish courts and has participated in court cases in China.
She joined Elion in 2022 as partner and established its Chemistry and Life Sciences Patent department. Núria also leads the Barcelona Office at Elion.
Núria is also a registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
Her primary areas of practice encompass pharmaceuticals & cosmetics, formulations, second medical uses, GMOs, diagnostic methods, genetic modification tools (CRISPR), peptides, antibodies, car-T cells, microbiological processes, (bio)materials & polymers, including (bio)plastics, asphalt, alloys, adhesives and coatings, food technology, and general & organic chemistry.
