We are happy to share that Sebastian Stigar (35) has been appointed as the new CEO of Bryn Aarflot. Sebastian is a partner and attorney at the firm and will assume the role on 1 May 2026.
This appointment marks a generational shift in an industry that is changing rapidly – where client expectations, technology, and the competitive landscape are moving at the same time. Our ambition is clear: to be the first choice for value-creating and smart IP advisory for you and your business.
Sebastian comes from the role as Chief of Strategy and Innovation at Bryn Aarflot. In this capacity, he has played a leading role in organisational development, digitalisation, and our work with several internal AI tools – aimed at streamlining workflows, strengthening quality, and providing better decision support in complex IP deliveries.
“Bryn Aarflot is my passion, and it is a privilege to lead a Norwegian, partner-owned specialist environment with long traditions and a high pace. My job will be to enable our people to deliver even better – supported by a culture where we put the team first as we move into an exciting future together,” says Sebastian Stigar.
Kristine Aarflot has led Bryn Aarflot steadily for more than 15 years and has decided on her own initiative to step down as CEO. To ensure continuity during the transition, she will move into an advisor role from May 2026 and remain an advisor through the end of 2026.
“After more than 15 years as CEO, I have chosen to pass the baton on. As a company, we are in a good place – with a clear direction and a strong team – and I look forward to contributing in an advisor role through 2026,” says Kristine Aarflot.
Stein Jacob Frisch, Chair of the Board, adds: “We are very pleased that Sebastian Stigar has accepted the responsibility of leading Bryn Aarflot going forward. He knows the culture, the field, and clients’ needs. He has also shown that he can combine law, leadership, and technology in a very strong way.”
Investing in AI and digital services
Our goal is to create more value with IP through smarter services. Alongside continuously strengthening our core services, we are building a broader portfolio of digital services – including domains, monitoring, and takedown solutions – and working on new products and services that will be launched continuously.
“We will be the first choice for value-creating and smart IP advisory. That means we will further raise quality in our core services and, at the same time, take positions where IP meets technology – with new risks and new opportunities for our clients,” says Stigar.
