Bae Kim & Lee appoints two former judges, Bird & Bird brings in Bech-Bruun partner to lead its Danish IP practice, Bristows hires Berwin Leighton Paisner's soft IP team, and NLO welcomes Sarlet from Gevers.


Bae Kim & Lee

The South Korean firm announced that Ki Joong Kang has joined its IP department. Kang was formerly head of IP at Samsung Electronics IP Centre. In his previous roles Kang served as a judge in various courts including the Patent Court and partner at AIP Patent & Law Firm. Earlier this month Bae Kim & Lee hired another former judge Seong Soo Kim as litigation partner. Bae Kim & Lee is an IP Stars-ranked firm.

Bird & Bird

Media and entertainment lawyer Peer B Petersen has joined the Copenhagen office of Bird & Bird as a partner and head of the Danish IP team. He was formerly a partner at Bech-Bruun, a firm ranked by IP Stars in Denmark. He is joined by senior associate Mogens Dyhr Vestergaard. Bird & Bird is not currently ranked in Denmark.

Bristows

Top-tier firm Bristows today confirmed that two IP Stars from Berwin Leighton Paisner, Simon Clark and Ian Gruselle, will be joining its IP practice as partners on May 1. Clark and Gruselle will bring along seven colleagues, including a solicitor and two trade mark attorneys. Both firms are listed in IP Stars trade mark prosecution and contentious rankings, which were published earlier this year.

NLO

IP Stars-ranked firm NLO has hired European and Belgian patent attorney Steven Sarlet, a specialist in mechanics and electronics, in its Ghent office. Sarlet previously co-headed the Belgian patents practice at Gevers.
