International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills can now provide local law advice in mainland China thanks to its joint operation with Chinese commercial/corporate law firm Kewei. The joint practice will be called Herbert Smith Freehills Kewei. According to the firm's press release, the news means "[Herbert Smith Freehills] becomes one of only six international law firms permitted to integrate China law advice with international legal services through the Joint Operation model based in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone".
