Bird & Bird’s annual partner promotions featured three IP litigators: Ewan Grist (UK); Troy Gurnett (Australia), who is particularly known for advising on copyright; and Christopher Maierhoefer (Germany), who focuses on patent litigation.

International law firm Clyde & Co has extended its trade mark and patent filing services in the Middle East with the opening of an office in Kuwait. The firm is now present in all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The firm won Managing IP’s UAE Firm of the Year award in 2015 and 2016.
 
DLA Piper’s partner promotions round included Philadelphia-based Richard L Cruz, who specialises in patent prosecution, and soft IP practitioner John M Nading, who is based in Washington DC.
 
David Leichtman has left Robins Kaplan to start his own law firm Leichtman Law. The New York-based firm provides services in IP alongside other commercial law areas.  
 
Simmons & Simmons recently completed a round of promotions across its network of offices. In IP, London-based Andrew Hutchinson and Darren Meale were appointed as partner, as was Mattie de Koning in Amsterdam.
