Research timeline
August: We will send out an email with details on how to participate in the research for the next edition
September 1: We start accepting firm submissions, conducting independent research and scheduling market interviews
October 31: Firm questionnaire and client referees submission deadline*
December - March: Client referee feedback and practitioner survey starts**
July: End of the research for the current year's edition
* Any deadline that falls on a Saturday or Sunday is automatically extended to Monday.
** Our first practitioner survey is for the senior IP practitioners, especially the IP Stars. We contact the Rising Stars after we have closed the senior IP practitioner survey. We can contact referees at anytime between December and March using the email address of one of our editors or our general research email address.

Results publication
Normally, we start publishing the research results for the year in March. The timeline below is subject to change. Please follow the updates on the news and features page.
IP STARS rankings publication timeline
March: Trade mark practice rankings for firms (including US states such as California)
April: Intellectual property rankings for firms (for jurisdictions without trade mark or patent rankings) and ITC and life sciences IP rankings for the US
May: Practitioner rankings, e.g. Patent Star, Trade Mark Star, etc and Managing IP’s Top 250 Women in IP list
June: Patent practice rankings for firms (including US states such as California)
July: IP transactions and copyright practice rankings for firms
September: Managing IP's Rising Stars list and Corporate IP Stars list
