Desmarais launches DC office with three ITC partners

Goutam (Gooch) Patnaik, Tuhin Ganguly and David Shaw have joined Desmarais to help launch the firm’s office in Washington, DC and expand its ITC and appellate practices. Patnaik will lead the ITC practice. They were previously partners in Troutman Pepper’s ITC litigation practice in Washington, DC.

 

Greenberg Traurig expands IP practice in Phoenix and Los Angeles

Greenberg Traurig continued the strategic expansion of its IP practice with the addition of Andrew Halaby as a partner in the Phoenix office and David Gay as a partner in the Los Angeles office respectively. Halaby is a seasoned trial lawyer and business advisor with 25 years’ experience in commercial and IP litigation. He joined the firm from Snell & Wilmer, where he was a partner. Gay has more than 25 years of experience in the life sciences arena. He was previously a partner at Jones Day and advises biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on IP matters.

 

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe continues to grow IP team

Daniel Forester has joined Orrick as a partner in the firm’s IP licensing and technology transactions practice, based in New York. He joined the firm from Davis Polk & Wardell. Gargi Talukder recently joined the firm’s San Francisco office from Morgan Lewis & Bockius. She specializes in life sciences patent prosecution and counseling.

 

McDermott Will & Emery expands West Coast footprint with life sciences IP litigator

IP litigator Douglas Carsten joined as a partner in McDermott’s IP practice in Orange County. Carsten has dealt with patent cases across various technical areas including pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices and diagnostic products. He joined from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

 

Steptoe & Johnson continues expansion of IP group in New York

Mike Eisenberg joined Steptoe as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Joining from Holland & Knight, Eisenberg, who holds degrees in physics, brings a strong patent and trade secrets litigation practice to the firm.

Brown Rudnick hired Ian DiBernardo and Jason Sobel as partners in its New York office. They have practiced together for nearly two decades, advising clients in a range of industries. DiBernardo is chair of the IP litigation practice and serves as practice group leader of the US technology group. DiBernardo and Sobel joined from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, where DiBernardo served as co-chair of the firm’s IP technology group and fintech practice.
