Simen has a background as an examiner in the Norwegian Patent Office and part of his role saw him lecturing engineering students at universities on an introduction to intellectual property and its implications. He is a strong believer in fostering innovation, particularly within the start-up field where he works in close collaboration with many small to medium organisations. Guiding them through the development of IP Strategy and Implementation, he advises on how to recognise and capture ideas as they happen, to understand commercial viability, develop cost/benefit analysis, and implementing a general culture of IP awareness.
Simen has developed and filed numerous patent applications across his areas of expertise and assists more mature clients with many IP matters within their respective fields. These include preparation and examination proceedings of patent applications nationally and internationally, as well as oppositions, searches and assessments of patentability, freedom to operate and IP strategy.
Simen is skilled in developing and describing technical aspects of potential ideas and this expertise has formed a major part of the success of Zacco Norway’s funding assistance and investment development model. Simen holds a M.Sc. from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He is currently working towards becoming a European Patent Attorney.
