Lea joined Zacco in 2020 as a patent attorney in the Life science and chemistry team. She has been working with intellectual property since 2018 and has continued to develop her expertise within litigation and legal methodology. She became an EPA in 2022.
Before she decided to pursue a career in IP law, she worked as a medical doctor and had a career in paediatric psychiatry. Her interest in medicine and biotechnology led her to consider a career in IP, identifying that medical advancements were the most practical approach to helping as many people as possible, both by securing the routes to market for biological innovation and through assisting companies that wished to continue investing in the field.
She has considerable technical expertise in the fields of pharmaceuticals, physiology, anatomy and life sciences, and has adopted this specialist knowledge into her IP work, applying a developed understanding of both the potential practical uses and commercial viability of her client’s ideas and IP rights.
Lea advises clients on various aspects of intellectual property, including FTO analyses, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, opposition and appeal proceedings and general counselling. Her clients span a range of sizes, from multinationals to SMEs in the fields of life sciences, chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She also continues to be a key member of the Patent Litigation Support Team.
In 2016, Lea obtained the degree of Master of Science in Medicine, from University of Copenhagen. She also regularly advises start ups at the BioInnovation Institute Denmark on the subject of IP and prosecution.
