Born in Munich in 1969, Korbinian Kopf received his Dipl.-Ing Univ. in Electrical Engineering at the TUM, Munich. In 1994 he successfully completed his Master Thesis in France at the ENST Bretagne. Korbinian subsequently studied in the UK where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Newcastle Business School at the University of Northumbria. Chinese Negotiation Culture was the subject of his Master Thesis, which opened opportunities of employment in Hong Kong and Southern China, where Korbinian held positions as Consultant for international companies in the fields of both cameras and chemicals.

From Asia, Korbinian Kopf returned to Europe to train as Patent Attorney with Hoffman Eitle. After passing the German Patent Bar in 2000, he accepted a position with Kenyon & Kenyon and relocated to New York where he passed the US Patent Agent Exam. Korbinian Kopf is admitted as German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and as a European Trademark and Design Attorney. He is also admitted in Austria.

In 2002 Korbinian joined Maiwald Patentanwalts GmbH and from 2004 to 2015 he was Partner and Managing Director. During this time the company grew from 5 to 80 attorneys.

In January 2016, Korbinian founded a new, thoroughly international Patent Law Firm operating as LKGLOBAL. LKGLOBAL is a fully digital, paperless IP firm focusing on efficient communication and streamlined workflows. Quality, cost consciousness and direct communication along with minimizing handling costs and maximizing legal service per Dollar is deeply embedded in the firm’s philosophy.

Korbinian assists in creating patent portfolios with a strategic intent and frequently focuses on complex oppositions and nullity suits. Thanks to his qualification in both US Law and EP law, along with his working experience in China, Korbinian has a unique perspective on 'international' cases and is not only able to ‘translate’ between US and European law, but also to expand the view to China and Asia. Korbinian's prosecution and litigation portfolio includes major international corporations requiring more than a ‘national’ overview in order to provide service handling patent procedures, disputes and long-term strategies.
