Jeff Barron resolves complicated intellectual property disputes. Jeff thrives when challenged with disputes that are at the cutting edge of technology and the law, and he enjoys digging into complicated technologies and fact patterns. Jeff’s preparation gives his clients the flexibility they need to navigate the troublesome waters of complex IP disputes.

Jeff’s clients include startups and Fortune 100 companies. He handles disputes involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, Internet security, the Stored Communications Act, and media law. He also has a vibrant appellate practice and has represented clients in various appeals in the Sixth, Seventh, Eleventh and Federal Circuits. Outside the courtroom, Jeff counsels clients concerning their IP strategy.

A litigator with particularly deep experience resolving cutting-edge technology disputes, Jeff believes that preparation and poise are critical to success in the courtroom. When his clients are facing or asserting claims in the hundreds of millions of dollars, he does the work necessary to execute the right strategy to meet that client’s needs.

Even in the most challenging circumstances, Jeff prides himself on keeping a cool head. And Jeff communicates: as much as he invests in his cases, he knows that prosecuting or defending against a lawsuit weighs most heavily on his clients. They deserve a partner who invests on making sure that they know the information – both good and bad – that they need to do their jobs.

From two decades of experience, Jeff knows that properly protecting his clients’ IP and proprietary technology – and safeguarding his clients from external threats – requires a pragmatic and long-term view. Jeff enjoys learning about his clients’ innovations; coupled to his courtroom experience, Jeff crafts IP strategies that go beyond securing patent, trademark and copyright protection. Decisions made early in the product development process can help leverage IP while mitigating risks and reducing future costs and expenses.
