Chris Moore is a partner at HGF and has almost 30 years of intellectual property experience, having begun his career as a patent examiner before moving into private practice.
A chemist by training, Moore maintains a broad practice spanning both chemistry and mechanical technologies. He advises a diverse client base that includes universities, start-ups, SMEs and multinational corporations on patent protection and enforcement strategies.
Moore established HGF’s Birmingham office in 2012 and currently serves as its managing partner. Since founding the office, he has played a key role in its growth, with a particular focus on recruiting, training and developing the next generation of patent attorneys.
He previously served as one of the principal examiners for the UK Patent Examinations Board, where he was responsible for the Infringement and Validity examination (FD4).
Moore is also co-head of HGF’s Oppositions and Appeals practice. A significant proportion of his work involves representing clients in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO), acting for both patent proprietors and challengers in complex contentious matters.
