Among the deans of the Texas IP bar, Bill LaFuze has handled patent and other IP litigation in district courts and the Federal Circuit on behalf of clients across a broad range of industries including energy, telecommunications, hardware and software, healthcare, electronics, and the internet. Bill has also served as arbitrator in many IP cases and has substantial experience in IP strategic counseling and licensing. He was one of two IP lawyers to advise the Bush/Cheney administration and the Presidential Transition Team on patent policy, the operation of the USPTO, and patent reform issues. By appointment of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, he later served a three-year term on the Patent Public Advisory Committee of the USPTO. Bill is also a past president and founding fellow of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
