Peter Åkerlund is a highly skilled IP Lawyer and Trademark Attorney, authorized to represent clients at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Finnish Patent Office, and Finnish courts. With over 20 years experience in the IP field, Peter provides expert guidance and assistance to clients in protecting their intellectual property assets, particularly their brands and designs.
Peter’s expertise spans the entire life cycle of products and services. He conducts searches to determine risks in using marks and designs, creates protection strategies, handles trademark registration and design protection procedures worldwide, and also deals with domains and copyright-related matters.
In addition to this, Peter enforces IP rights through negotiation with counterparts and acts as a representative in opposition and cancellation procedures, as well as infringement actions at court. He also handles IP-related contract drafting and assists in negotiations relating to handling IP in various agreements that have IP implications, such as research and development, distribution, licensing, franchising, and transfer of rights agreements. Peter also advises clients on handling employee inventions to secure use and patenting rights to technical innovations.
