Paul has nearly three decades of experience acting for both blue chip clients and start-ups in the tech sector.

Described in Legal 500 as combining ‘excellent technical skills with good business acumen and pragmatism’ (2017), Paul has constructed a number of major patent portfolios from scratch, making a particular speciality of carving out useful patent monopoly in difficult areas. He has also undertaken a number of critical infringement risk assessment assignments over a wide range of technical areas.

A qualified Patent Attorney Litigator, Paul has considerable litigation experience and a long history of successfully representing a number of clients at the IPEC and elsewhere.

Paul sits on the Software Committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and has maintained his broad interests in the mechanical, electrical and software engineering fields, with professional experience over a wide technical spectrum from nuclear physics, fibre optics and semiconductor devices, through automotive engineering, radar and communications technologies, to software and business process inventions, notably in the financial services sector.

In addition, Paul is a Registered Trade Mark Agent and handles a large designs portfolio
