Marco Handle joined WEINMANN ZIMMERLI’s litigation department in 2014 and became a partner in 2022. His practice covers contentious and non-contentious matters in the field of intellectual property with a special focus on trademark, unfair competition and copyright issues. He also advises clients on data protection and commercial matters. Dr Handle frequently writes on IP topics, especially on Swiss and European copyright law, and lectures in copyright and design law at the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
Before joining WEINMANN ZIMMERLI, Dr Handle studied law at the University of Zurich and worked at the chair for intellectual proprety and commercial law of the same university. There, he obtained a doctoral degree, summa cum laude, for his thesis on copyright protection for ideas. His thesis received the Professor Walther Hug Award as one of the best Swiss theses of 2014. In his law practice, Dr Handle has specialised in the areas of copyright, trademark and unfair competition law, with a focus on complex litigation cases, as a member of the IP team at a top-tier law firm in Zurich.
