Karin Westerberg specialises in matters of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property, marketing law and trade secret matters. She is a skilled litigator with extensive experience of IP litigations, in particular regarding patents, copyright and trade secrets.
Karin represents clients in all fields of technology (in particular pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and mechanical engineering) in patent infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Swedish Patent and Market Court (including cross-border patent disputes). She also represents clients in complex copyright and trade secrets litigations involving multiple infringement investigations and interim proceedings, as well as clients in the pharmaceutical industry with regulatory issues.
In addition, Karin advises clients on a day to day basis whenever they have issues relating to IP rights, such as the protection of IP in general and the drafting of commercial IP agreements.
Karin is the secretary of the Svensk Form Copyright Panel, which is an impartial expert body within the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design, with the task to express an opinion on copyright protection for works of applied art and whether a copyright-protected work of applied art has been plagiarized. She is also a member of the Committee on Intellectual Property, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Sweden.
