Jonas McDavit is a partner at Desmarais LLP with experience representing clients in high-stakes patent infringement cases before federal courts, the International Trade Commission, and the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He handles cases involving diverse areas of technology, including computer hardware and software, semiconductors, wireless communication, mobile devices, image sensors, pharmaceuticals, photo-imaging equipment, and a wide range of consumer products. Mr. McDavit joined Desmarais LLP in 2010 as the firm’s first associate.

He has successfully represented both patent owners and accused infringers in litigation around the country. For example, Mr. McDavit represented patentee-plaintiff Intellectual Ventures in a patent infringement action relating to semiconductors and electronic communications helping secure an infringement verdict at a jury trial in federal district court, which led to a favorable resolution of the matter. He has also represented accused infringer-defendant Cisco Systems in several multi-patent cases concerning communications equipment and infrastructure, including trial practice, motion practice, claim construction, and all aspects of discovery. Mr. McDavit is admitted to the New York state bar, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and various federal district courts.

Mr. McDavit is a former U.S. Navy submariner, who held the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Notre Dame. Prior to joining Desmarais LLP, Mr. McDavit practiced in the Intellectual Property group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
