Mr. Ji Liu is the Director of the Patent Litigation Department at CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office, where he oversees patent litigation, invalidation, administrative litigation, and general consulting services. He holds a Master’s degree in Polymer Material Science and joined CCPIT in 2001.
Proficient in international IP law, Mr. Liu has trained with top law firms in Germany and the U.S., and studied U.S. Intellectual Property Laws at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York (2013). He has also represented the All China Patent Attorneys Association in international forum, delivering speeches and engaging with global IP professionals.
Mr. Liu has successfully handled over a thousand patent prosecution cases and numerous high-profile patent litigation and invalidation cases. His notable accomplishments include leading litigation for major Chinese companies in various sectors including LED manufacturing, hot stamping machinery, medical devices, and internet technology. His successful defense in numerous cases has led to significant rulings, with a notable case being recognized as one of Tianjin’s top 10 IP cases in 2018.
His recent legal battles include representing a Japanese printer company in enforcing patent rights against infringers in Beijing IP court, Shanghai IP court, Guangzhou IP court and IP court of the SPC (2019 to the present), securing a dismissal in an anti-unfair competition case for a Fujian canned food company (2021), and defending a Japanese ink company’s patent rights in the Supreme People's Court (2017-2018). Additionally, he has been pivotal in invalidating crucial patents for a major Shanghai internet company (2019) and a German chemical company (2018).
Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Liu contributes to scholarly publications on IP issues and has delivered keynotes at various international and domestic conferences. His insights have been published in platforms such as Thomson Reuters Practical Law, World Trademark Review, and IAM, discussing strategies and developments in patent litigation.
