Elliott Simcoe has over two decades of wide-ranging experience in intellectual property law. His practice is primarily focussed on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in Canada and managing the filing and prosecuting of patent applications worldwide in the fields of electrical and computer engineering. He is also regularly involved with matters relating to patent litigation, Canadian trademark drafting and prosecution, and copyrights.
He has significant expertise in domain name matters, including acquisition and licensing. In 2017 Elliot was an AritasStar nominee for Intellectual Property. He has been recognized annually as an “IP Star” in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars Handbook for Patents and Trademark & Copyright, and in The Canadian Legal LEXPERT® Directory under Intellectual Property since 2012.
Elliot is a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, a member of the International Trademark Association (Online Reference Committee), and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office Committee of Intellectual Property Experts (Trademarks and Domain Names).
BASc (1991); LLB (1994). Registered Trademark and Patent Agent, and registered to practise before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1996.
