Dominic leads the firm’s Electronics practice group and specialises in complex, cross-disciplinary patent matters. His work spans a broad range of technologies, including novel physical effects, electromagnetism, microfluidics, lithographic and laser manufacturing, medical devices and machine learning. Dominic also has significant experience in bioinformatics, particularly in software-enabled innovations relating to gene sequencing, diagnostics, therapeutic design, medical imaging and neural signal analysis.
He focuses on patent drafting, prosecution and opposition work before the European Patent Office, acting for a diverse client base ranging from startups and university spin-outs to major multinationals. He has particular expertise in building IP strategies for early-stage ventures and has led numerous high-profile oppositions, representing some of the world’s largest technology companies.
Dominic holds a Master’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, where he also completed a PhD in experimental and theoretical physics. He was elected a Junior Research Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, continuing his research in quantum materials before transitioning to patent practice. His academic background and familiarity with research environments enable him to work seamlessly with leading universities and scientists.
