Chris is a UK and European patent attorney with a wealth of expertise gained over six years of dedicated service in private practice, and three years as a Patent Examiner at the UKIPO. Specialising in physics, electronics, telecomms and software related inventions, Chris boasts an impressive track record in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and globally.
Chris has a current client portfolio which includes a broad mix of well-known multinational companies, notable leaders in their respective fields, patent licensing companies and UK and Irish SMEs as well as undertaking work for a UK university.
Within Murgitroyd, Chris is recognised for his deep knowledge of UK patent law and expertise in handling and prosecuting UK patent applications, particularly those which involve excluded subject matter. Since his time working as a UK Patent Examiner, Chris has become intimately familiar with the UK test for subject matter exclusions, allowing him to advise clients creatively and accurately when faced with such objections.
