Ásdís Magnúsdóttir is an attorney at law and holds an LLM in new science, technology and law from Stanford Law School in California. Ms Magnúsdóttir has over 20 years of experience in IP matters in private practice. She studied law at the University of Iceland and holds a cand jur degree, as well as being a qualified district court attorney.

Ms Magnúsdóttir is an adjunct at the University of Reykjavik, where she teaches, in particular, courses in the field of intellectual property. In addition, she frequently speaks at seminars, conferences and similar events on various topics within the field of intellectual property. Ms Magnúsdóttir is a partner at Arnason Faktor, the largest IP firm in Iceland, where she heads the trademark and legal department, serving both local and international clients.

Ms Magnúsdóttir works with legal matters related to intellectual property in general, both contentious and non-contentious trademark matters, as well as dealing with both patent and trademark litigation, and providing advice to corporations, government agencies and individuals on various IP-related issues. She was one of the lead individuals in a case for Merck, Sharpe & Dohme against the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO), which resulted in the Supreme Court ordering the ISIPO to issue a supplementary protection certificate with a period of negative term.
