Marks & Clerk remains a foremost global firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. With offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, our attorneys are wired directly into the UK’s leading business and innovation economies. Alongside this we have offices in 9 international locations covering the EU, Canada and Asia. We continue to grow and recently expended in Canada through mergers with a team of IP Attorneys and Solicitors. Our reach allows us to offer clients the best possible service locally, nationally and internationally.

2017 has seen us once again named the UK’s top filer of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications by Managing Intellectual Property magazine, with our teams having filed 1015 PCT applications over the period 2014-16. This is nearly 30% more than our nearest rival and also makes us one of Europe’s top three filers. In 2017 the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) also named Marks & Clerk the top filer of trade marks in both the UK and the EU with us filing nearly 200 more trade marks than our nearest EU rival.

The seamless integration of our patent and trade mark teams and our allied solicitors practice, Marks & Clerks Solicitors, continues to set the standard in the market and means we are well placed to deal with our clients IP needs, whether prosecution, opposition or litigation. While many other firms have since begun to develop their own in-house solicitors practices, Marks & Clerk has had one for more than 15 years. This multi-faceted business has been developed, not through mergers with, or acquisitions of, competitor IP teams, but rather through organic growth, ensuring we maintain a collegiate ethos which sets us apart. The breadth and depth of experience within our organisation means we have practical knowledge and understanding of all major technologies and technological sectors and we have dedicated groups focused on sectors including pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical technology, advanced materials, transport, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality and energy.
