• Academia Sinica is the most preeminent national academic institution in Taiwan.  We assist the client to draft patent specification and file patent applications globally, including Patent Corporation Treaty (PCT), Taiwan, the U.S., China, Europe, Japan, etc, especially relating to the technology of molecular biology, immunology, antibodies, stem cells, peptides, diagnosis, nucleic acid amplification and detection, biomarkers, treatment methods, carbohydrate analysis technology, molecular modification of biomolecules, transgenic animals/plants, etc.  We also handle the prosecution for these patent applications including reporting the office action and providing analysis/suggestions to the client, making amendments and/or arguments to overcome rejections and obtaining patents therefor.
• The client is a biotech/pharmaceutical company who would like to develop a potential pharma product and file patent application therefor.  We are requested by the client to review their research works and provide comments on what subject matter is possible to be patented and what they need to provide to complete the patent filing.  We work as patent experts to provide the clients professional consultation to clarify how to find out the subject matter for patent and how to protect their research results in a good manner. Our consultation is important to the client because they can arrange appropriate patent protection during the R&D process to avoid the loss of rights due to disclosure during the process, and improve technology value and licensing opportunities through patent protection. We also help the client to conduct prior art search for their inventions which is important to the client because they can evaluate the novelty of their product and make necessary modifications in advance if necessary to ensure the novelty of their patent applications to be filed.
• The client is a biotech and biomedical company. We assist the client to review their patent portfolios and assess the correlation with their new drug product to be launched in the market, and provide strategic advice and proposal relating to patent linkage and patent term extension issues. Pharmaceutical companies invest great amounts of time, money and efforts to develop new medicines.  It is important to ensure a new drug product to be comprehensively protected.  In this case, the client has their new drug product to be lunched in the market.  Patent linkage system is helpful to correlate the client's drug product with their patent rights so as to delay the competitors' entry into the market.  Extension of patent term is also valuable that the client can obtain longer time of patent protection after the drug product is marketed.  We provide strategic advice and proposal accordingly so as to help the client to obtain comprehensive protection for their drug product against competitors.
