The list of highly recommended patent practitioners and the patent ranking editorials for the 2017 edition of IP STARS have been published.

Click on the region of interest above to see all the 2017 rankings, editorials (see ‘Analysis’ tab) and IP stars we have for a given jurisdiction. These were first published in the 2017 IP STARS Handbooks (US and Global editions), copies of which are made available at the industry events we attend (such as INTA Annual Meeting in Barcelona) and to Managing IP subscribers.

We also published our special annual lists: Top 250 Women in IP and Corporate IP stars. Congratulations to all listed this year.

You can use our editorials and logos

To supplement a firm's ranking, we provide information on its key strengths and/or individuals and any pertinent feedback from market commentators including clients. You can use excerpts from our editorials in your marketing collateral such as websites. When using this, please attribute as follows: ‘Managing Intellectual Property IP STARS' or 'MIP IP STARS [year of publication]’.

Our business development team can provide you with the latest firm ranking or IP star listing logos. If you require this, please contact: Nick Heath (for firms in EMEA and India), Matthew Siu (for firms in Asia excluding India), and Kevin Dansky (for firms in Americas including USA).

You can have your own profile

If you would like to publish your own firm profile (e.g. see sample here) or individual IP practice profile (e.g. see sample here) to accompany our independent editorials please contact the relevant member of our business development team.

Methodology

IP STARS only list firms or individuals with a credible IP practice and recommendations from market commentators including competitors and clients. The research includes an online survey, interviews and independent analysis of all available information. The research covers over 80 jurisdictions.

For example, to produce the annual list of stars our team of research analysts surveyed thousands of IP practitioners in private practice and in-house practice, conducted interviews and vetted the information received. Read more about our methodology here.

The research is impartial and rigorous. No practitioner or firm can pay to be included or solicit recommendations from colleagues or associates. Moreover, self-nominations are not considered and participation in our survey or research does not guarantee listing. Managing IP does not recommend or endorse any particular firm or individual.
