Michal Havlík is a partner of Havlík Švorčík and Partners, Law and Patent Office (formerly Všetečka Zelený Švorčík and Partners), where he practises as attorney at law and patent attorney. He is a member of the Czech and Slovak Bar Associations and the Czech Chamber of Patent Attorneys. He joined the firm in 2000 after completing his law degree at Charles University, Prague and Cardiff Law School.

Michal represents clients in prosecution as well as in contentious matters concerning patents, trademarks and designs. His broad litigation experience helps crafting and implementing an effective IP enforcement strategy tailored to the specific circumstances of each case. Michal has successfully handled several complex patent litigation cases including damage claims and obtained numerous preliminary injunctions to stop the sale of patent-infringing pharmaceutical products in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

An important part of Michal’s practice are domain name matters both representing clients or serving as a panelist for the .eu and .cz domain name disputes with the Czech Arbitration Court and WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center.

For more than a decade now, Michal has been highly recommended as a leading IP lawyer in the Czech Republic by Chambers Europe. He regularly speaks at international and domestic IP conferences and seminars and publishes articles on IP law. He is the author of the Czech chapters of the Kluwer Manual of Industrial Property and the International Trademark Association Opposition Guide and also contributes to the Kluwer trademark blog. He is also a member of the editorial board of Industrial Property Magazine, published by the Czech Industrial Property Office.

Michal is the Vice-Chair of the IP Section of the Czech Bar Association and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Czech Chamber of Patent Attorneys. Since 2015, Michal serves as the president of the Czech national group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). He is also a member of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), the Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group (PTMG), the International Trademark Association (INTA) and MARQUES.
