Jon Parker is one of the most experienced trademark and IP professionals in the region, with 30 years’ experience covering private practice, in-house spells and time in a national IP office. He looks to pass on his knowledge to the wider profession in the United Arab Emirates through day-to-day support and presentations. In recent years he has been invited by WIPO to present on the Madrid Protocol, to stakeholders within candidate countries for the international registration system.
Mr Parker’s practice covers a wide range of sectors including leisure and hospitality, food and beverages, fast-moving consumer goods, automotive, tech, construction and real estate, consumer products, retail, media, pharmaceuticals and luxury products. His clients range from multinationals to SMEs, start-ups and Middle East headquartered entities.
While he is based in the United Arab Emirates, his practice is a regional practice (for local and international clients), but also global in managing global portfolios for local clients. His practice is fully integrated within Gowling WLG’s global footprint of offices. Mr Parker works closely with his colleagues in Gowling UAE’s corporate M&A, commercial and tech teams to offer a joined-up service that can cover a range of services from entities entering the region, to M&A and joint-venture support to ensure clients’ IP rights are safeguarded. Mr Parker also works closely with Gowling colleagues in other countries to help support work being done for clients overseas, as well as supporting clients coming to the United Arab Emirates or the Middle East and North Africa region.
