Nils Heide is focused on patent and know how litigation as well as IP disputes in research & development projects. During the last 20 years he has represented global players, SMEs, startups, universities and research institutions in a high number of national and international disputes (patent infringement proceedings, IP ownership disputes, IP revocation actions etc.) and technology transfer projects (R&D collaborations, licensing etc) covering various technologies. As a UPC representative he has acted in infringement and revocation actions at the UPC. Nils has coordinated several IP litigations in China and other jurisdictions and also acted in IP arbitration and IP mediation proceedings. He has a strong expertise in dispute resolution, in particular in complex R&D cooperations. He has represented various clients in the negotiation of R&D agreements and other R&D related projects. During the last years he is also intensively involved in IP matters relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence, including IP infringement issues and R&D projects based on AI.
He is Honorary Professor and appointed lecturer for Patent Law at the Hochschule der Medien (HdM) in Stuttgart and member of the HdM Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence (IAAI).
