Matthew Smith

Working primarily in the chemical and materials science fields, Matthew has significant experience of the intricacies of the EPO. He advises and assists clients with all stages of drafting, prosecution, opposition and appeal before the EPO.

Areas of Expertise

• Ceramics and related processing technologies
• 2D materials, both as materials themselves and as components of further innovation
• Energy storage materials, such as anode, cathode, separator and electrolyte materials
• Polymers, fabrics and composites
• Small molecule NCEs

Matthew has a Master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Oxford. He joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2006.
