Gary Cox entered the IP field as an examiner of patents with IP Australia. He then worked for about three years with a specialist IP firm in Sydney before joining Wrays. He specialises in IP protection in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals fields. He has extensive experience in strategic IP development with universities, research institutes, start-up companies and
SMEs. He handles the drafting and prosecution of patent applications and provides opinions on patent validity and on the freedom to operate which companies have in the IP field.
Gary’s speciality fields include life sciences (biotechnology), pharmaceuticals, medical technologies and diagnostics, and plant breeders’ rights. Gary also specialises in patent oppositions and revocations, in Australia and New Zealand. Some of the matters that Gary has been leading attorney on include:
