Santoyo is a Senior Partner at Uhthoff, Gomez Vega & Uhthoff, S.C. in charge of the firms litigation department. His main practice focuses on IP litigation and enforcement, anti- piracy and anti-counterfeiting issues and counseling. Mr. Santoyo joined the firm in 1994 and became a Partner in the year 2004. He is an Attorney at Law and has completed postgraduate studies in Intellectual Property, International Commerce and Internet Law. His experience comprises complex patent and trademark litigation and he also designs and implements anti-counterfeiting programmes. He has been involved in handling enforcement actions relating to the protection of IP rights before diverse authorities. He specializes in subsequent appeals heard by judicial authorities.
Mr. Santoyo was listed as recommended individual (IP Stars) by Managing Intellectual Property in both IP STARS Handbooks for Patents and Trade Mark and Copyright of 2015 and 2016; he also was recognized as a Top Rated Anti-Counterfeiting Expert in the Latin America and Central America Region and as a Gold Ranking Individual in the Enforcement and Litigation category in the 2015 and 2016 editions of the World Trademark Review 1000, The World Leading Trademark Professionals; and was the winner of the ILO Client Choice Award 2013 in the Intellectual Property/Trademarks Category for Mexico; also the exclusive winner of the ILO Client Choice Awards 2015 and 2016 in the Litigation category for Mexico; and was recommended for his litigation expertise in The Legal 500 guide of 2015.
Active member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of the Industrial Property (AMPPI), Mexican Bar Association and the International Trademark Association (INTA). Author of Well-Known Trademarks (1997) and several articles on IP-related topics.
