May is a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Trademark/Copyright), and a partner in the Intellectual Property Group at Osler. She is a senior intellectual property practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in advising clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection and enforcement, including branding strategy, licensing and anticounterfeiting. As an IP litigator, May is regularly involved in injunctive proceedings and appeals to the Federal Court of Canada in trademark disputes and infringement cases on behalf of domestic and global brands, including recently representing the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada in a complex piece of trademark litigation. May's litigation experience also includes patent infringement litigation involving telecommunications and nuclear technology, trade secret and copyright infringement litigation, in both Federal and Provincial courts. She has expertise in the execution and enforcement of Anton Piller Orders to seize counterfeit goods bearing famous luxury brands and consumer goods. She also has considerable experience in on-line arbitration of domain name disputes. Recently, May has acted as an expert consultant to The Government of the Bahamas in redrafting their intellectual property legislation to make it compliant with international treaty obligations for ascension to the WTO.
