Marion's major area of practice is in Trade Mark law where she has gained extensive experience in strategically advising on international trade mark portfolio management and protection particularly within the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to repeatedly featuring as one of Australia's leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners in the Managing Intellectual Property's Expert Guide, she is regularly published in the Australian Financial Review as part of their Best Lawyers report, regarded as one of 'Australia's Top Lawyers' in Intellectual Property (IP). She is also recognised as a leading lawyer for IP in the AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers 2015 publication.
Marion was recognised as a leading individual in the World Trade Mark Review (WTR) 1000 2015. WTR also quoted: "Consummate strategic advisor Marion Heathcote is a go-to for Asia-Pacific portfolio management instructions". TheAustralasian Legal Business Guide on Intellectual Property Law describe her as being 'brilliant in regards to all TPA-related issues'. She also features in the International Who's Who of Trade Mark Lawyers.
Marion is currently Chair of the Related Rights Committee of INTA which considers issues associated with Geographical Indications, Indigenous Peoples Rights, Design Rights and Rights of Publicity and has received INTA's 'Volunteer Service Award for the Advancement of Trademark Law'. She currently sits on INTA's Asia Pacific Council and has previously served on their Board of Directors. She is a member of the Marques IP Outer Borders Team, and serves on the Management Committee of the International Wine Law Association's Australasian Section. She is a co-author the Australian Chapter of Lexis Nexis' International Pharmaceutical Law and Practice.
