Richard specialises in patent matters related to information and communication technology (ICT), micro/nano electronics, materials, systems and technologies, and physics. His practice includes drafting patent specifications, local and internationalprosecution, providing strategy, validity and infringement advice and oppositions.
Richard has extensive experience in a diverse range of technologies, including software- and hardware based inventions, networking and internet technologies, business methods, microelectronics, electronic materials and semiconductor processing, photonics, telecommunications, microsystems/MEMS, nanotechnology, physics and bioinformatics.
Richard was recommended as a leading individual in prosecution in the IAM Patent 1000 Guide 2013. Richard was also recognised as a leading patent attorney in the 2013 edition of Asia IP Experts.
Previously, Richard was a research professor at the Microelectronics Research Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a resident consultant at Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technologies), a visiting fellow at the Australian National University, and a research associate in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at North Carolina State University.
He has directed and performed research in the fields of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), nanotechnology, materials engineering, and semiconductor processing. He has lectured in microelectronics, semiconductor processing, MEMS, materials science and patent law, and has over 40 technical publications.
