Hector Chagoya is Partner and Director of Patents & Technology at BC&B. With IP experience since 1997 in many technology and industry areas, he holds the Certified Licensing ProfessionalTM credential (first in Mexico). He is currently in charge of the whole patent practice of the firm, one of the largest patent practices in Mexico, as well as of consulting services for leveraging value from IP assets.
He focuses his practice in leading working teams through patent drafting, patent prosecution, technology intelligence studies, IP assets valuation, IP negotiations, technology evaluation and substantive issues of patent litigation. Mr. Chagoya has been recognized consistently since 2005 as leading patent practitioner in several international surveys including IP Stars, IAM Patents 1000, IAM Strategy 300 and Leaders League among others.
Mr. Chagoya is also Qualified Expert in Engineering Economy of the National College of Chemical Engineers and Chemists (CONIQQ), a subject matter that he taught as part of the Chemical Engineering program at Universidad La Salle, where he was part of the Faculty for 15 years teaching also Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium and Project Evaluation. He has also acted as expert witness in several patent litigation cases.
Hector Chagoya has published a variety of articles in specialized international magazines of Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing, and is co-author of chapters in various books related to licensing, trade secrets and pharmaceutical law and practice.
He has occupied different leadership positions in professional organizations where he participates actively, including President of LES Mexico, Past-International Vicepresident of LES International, Past-President of the Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers (Mexico City Chapter), member of the Technical Committee of the Mexican Association of Directors of Applied Research and Technology Development (ADIAT) and member of the AIPPI Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Committee representing the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI).
