Founded in 2012, Erise IP is an IP firm based in Overland Park with an additional outpost in Denver. It is the brainchild of Eric Buresh and Adam Seitz, who both came from Shook Hardy & Bacon to start the new firm. Partner Marshall Honeyman focuses on patents in technologies relating to automotive components, missile guidance systems, and aerospace & defense. In 2016, Buresh earned a victory as lead counsel to Sega, Ubisoft, Cambium Learning, and Kofax in a matter against Uniloc, which accused Erise's clients of infringing its "try and buy" software. A client praises the firm's work in patent litigation stating, "Erise provides a lean, focused team to address a given issue. You get the skill and experience of a larger firm, as well as more reasonable rates and more personalized attention." Another client notes "In the context of IPR proceedings and patent defense work against NPEs, Erise provides the best bang for your buck – on small budgets they achieve tremendous results."
