Arthur Cox is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s leading and most innovative law firms. Today, the firm has almost 350 lawyers, including more than 90 partners and a total staff of almost 700. Arthur Cox is an “all-island” firm, with offices in Dublin and Belfast. The firm also has offices in London, New York and Silicon Valley. The firm’s practice encompasses all aspects of corporate and business law, providing a comprehensive service to an international client base ranging from established global leaders and multinational organisations to government agencies and statutory bodies, banks and financial institutions to new players in emerging industry sectors.
Arthur Cox’s intellectual property practice forms part of the overall Technology & Innovation Group and consists of lawyers and registered trade mark agents who advise on traditional IP areas (such as patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial designs, confidentiality and related intellectual property matters) as well as on increasingly prominent areas in Ireland such the movement of international IP into Irish tax structures and multi-party collaborative research projects (involving multiple industry and academic parties and the protection and commercialisation of data).
Our Technology & Innovation Group is the largest legal team in Ireland dedicated to specialist IT and intellectual property law. Our practice is market leading in our key focus areas and we are continually investing in building our range of skills and resources so as to meet the specialist requirements of our clients. The Group regularly advises on all aspects of intellectual property exploitation, from protection through to utilisation and enforcement. The firm provides a full range of intellectual property services, including representation in litigation where we regularly build inter-disciplinary teams with colleagues from other Groups (litigation, tax, corporate, etc.).
The Technology & Innovation Group has a particularly strong practice in the protection and commercial exploitation of data and we have represented many clients in data protection, copyright, database rights and related areas in relation to both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Arthur Cox's multidisciplinary IP team is renowned in transactions and disputes. Rob Corbet, David O'Donohoe and Colin Kavanagh are particularly recommended. Gavin Woods and Colin Rooney are among the senior lawyers in the firm whose areas of practice include IP. Contracts law scholar Robert Clark, who also has an academic interest in IP, is a consultant in the team. In March 2017 the firm relocated to a newly built office in Dublin.
