Russia’s IP Court started operating in July 2013 and since then there have been many cases of interest to IP practitioners. In an article on Managing IP, IP Star Natalia Gulyaeva reviewed some of these cases (on employee inventions and patent licence agreement), and explained how the court deals with procedural matters such as mandatory pre-trial and expert witnesses. There is also a new method for hearings before the Chamber for Patent Disputes of the Russian PTO. These developments, Gulyaeva concluded, “may have a great impact on the access to and quality of patent litigation in Russia”.
